THE IT MARKETPLACE
IT Services is projected to reach $682 billion in revenues by 2007,
yet despite its size, it is still is a fragmented industry with companies
focusing on very diverse disciplines, like IT consulting, application
development and integration, hardware and software development, product
support and training.
Larger IT players (IBM, Accenture, EDS, for example)
account for 40% of the market.
The remainder is made up of thousands of
smaller IT companies most of which service Fortune 500 Clients and government
agencies.
Within this group exists a small pool of specialized entrepreneurial
shops that are profitable and growing. It is in this segment of the industry that we find our
Commonwealth Companies.
